Crocheters and Knitters Gone Wild on their Pets
Yes, you definitely need Crocheters Anonymous!
I hope this fellow got a great treat for being such a good sport:
According to the designer of this pug dog birthday cake hat, this is the hat worn by the pug in the “Three – Pay As You Go “. commercial and newspaper ads in the United Kingdom.
Definitely not amused. This kitty on the left is Starlight, and Leroy is on the right.
According to the pattern designer,
“Starlight here… is the other inspiration for this we are hoping to change this habit before our first grandbaby gets here in a couple of months.”
What’s not clear is what habit she’s trying to break… dressing the kitties?
Such beautiful knitting; they just don’t understand how lucky they are (sigh). It took some hunting, but I finally found these exact reindeer hats (they’re called snoods) on Amazon. Based on the one rating there, though (and you can pretty much tell by looking at the photo), these particular snoods are designed for dogs with longer necks, like italian greyhounds. I imagine these would work for many dobermans as well, but would probably not look as good on dogs with regular or short necks, like goldens, labs, weimaraners (as mentioned in the Amazon review), etc. I would also expect these to work for the less common long-neck chihuahuas (I believe they’re called deer head chihuahuas as opposed to the more common stouter, squat apple head chihuahas).
Much better to make your own, if you crochet or knit, for then you can adjust exactly as you need to for your dog. Here’s a link some patterns for dog reindeer knit snoods, and several links to finished reindeer hats or snoods that you can buy or use as inspiration when making your own.
Author Stephanie Dosen, author of Woodland Knits, published a reindeer snood for humans that can be used as a template for creating them for your pets. According to Llana of the My Handmades, blog, Stephanie’s pattern is the basis for the snoods below as well as other pet antler snoods that have gone viral. I wouldn’t mess with this cat, he looks like he means it.
Oh boy, the 4th of July is coming again soon, isn’t it? Quick, dog, hide!
This pug’s crocheter went Rasta on him. He just doesn’t realize how adorable he is!
Etsy shop PugsNGiggles offers this cool rasta hat. Their slogan is, “outfits, hats, and costumes for pugs and their friends.” Definitely worth a look!
This terrier is staring off into the distance as if repeating a mantra like: “I’m a dog, not a frog. I’m a dog, not a frog…”
Nope, definitely not amused.
So patient! What a doleful expression.
